Steve Jobs: iPhone Presentation Part 2 (2007)

6. 2nd Demo – iPhone: We have reinvented the phone (23:15)

Ingenious use of an example as a way to highlight new features – Click on Contacts, scroll down to Jony Ive, click on the phone number of Jony Ive (highlights how easy it is to call someone), Phil Schneider calls in. Put Jony on hold (highlights the Hold feature). Wait a second — I want to talk to them both, so Steve clicks Merge calls (highlights the Conference Call feature).

Continuation of example – Visual Voicemail – just click on the one you want. Steve clicks on Al Gore’s voicemail and Tim Cook’s voicemail to listen to it (instead of having to see recent one). SMS messaging – demonstrate interface and show how easy it is to type on the touch keyboard (complete with autocorrection).

iPhoto – Killer with the touch feature. Swipe through your pictures, go into landscape mode and make them bigger with the pinch (this was a huge moment because it was incredibly cool).

Summary: At last, he quickly goes through a run-down of each feature he went over to give you an overview of just how many cool features he’s introduced. Overall, Steve does two things very well; he shows revolutionary features like touch integration with Photos and visual voicemail, but also shows tremendous improvement of existing features like improved call management on the iPhone.

7. 3rd Demo – Internet: A Real Web Browser (35:42)
